Roles and permissions
Who may do what in your space, and who may see which channel.
Make a role
- Open Space settings, then Roles & Permissions.
- Press New role. Give it a name and a colour.
- Switch on what the role may do, and add the people who have it.
What a role can allow
- The space: manage the space, manage roles, manage channels, create invites, view the audit log.
- Members: kick, ban, and moderate members.
- Channels: send messages, manage messages, connect to voice, start a call.
- Voice: mute or deafen someone for everyone, move them, disconnect them.
A new member can send messages and join voice rooms. Everything else is yours to hand out.
A private channel
Open a channel’s settings and switch on Private channel. Only the roles you allow can see it. Under Role permissions you can also choose, per role, who may view the channel, send messages or connect to voice.
A role on arrival
An invite link can give its roles to whoever joins with it. See invite people.
